Summary of Position

As an Automotive Sales Associate, you will be responsible for selling new and used cars in accordance with dealership gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction standards. You will be a direct representative of Knudtsen in the market and vital in creating and maintaining lifelong customer relationships. Thus, you will be held to high ethical standards. Continuing product, process, and service specific training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Approach, greet, and offer assistance or direction to all customers.
  • Determine customer needs, perform vehicle walk-arounds, and take customers on test drives to set up for a successful sale.
  • Fully explain product performance, application, and benefits to customers. Describe all optional equipment available for customer purchase.
  • Write complete paperwork according to dealership standards, work with sales manager to close deals, and turn all closed deals and paperwork over to the finance department.
  • Deliver vehicles to customers, ensuring the customer understands the vehicle’s operating features, warranty, and paperwork.
  • Introduce customer to service department personnel to emphasize the quality and efficiency of service repairs and maintenance available.
  • Maintain prospect development and owner follow-up systems to encourage repeat and referral business. Additionally, follow up on all post-delivery items.
  • Complete required training and keep up to date on new products, features, accessories, etc. and the consumer benefit.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A team player focused on providing ethical and exemplary customer service.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to set and achieve targeted goals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in automotive sales is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of computers, basic software, Internet, and ability to learn database management and customer relationship software.
  • Familiarity with all federal, state, and local laws which govern retail automobile sales, as well as a basic knowledge of equity, values, and depreciation and can explain them to the customer.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Pass a motor vehicle report and possess a safe driving record.
  • Pass a criminal background check and drug test. Subject to random drug testing at the company’s request.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The Sales Associate physical requirements include:

  • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day
  • Employee is regularly required to talk and hear
  • The employee must be able to lift or move items at least 50 pounds
  • Vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions

Team Members regularly works 40 hours per week. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member will typically be outside on the Sales Lot. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions and combustibles. Fast paced working environment at times, but typically the environment is quiet and calm. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderately loud. If walking through the service areas can be exposed to loud noises and dangerous work environments.
