Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is responsible for maintenance of accurate process cost information, reconciliation of cost variances, maintenance of perpetual inventory system, participating in the month end close, and assisting the Corp. Accounting Management with day-to-day operations and reporting requirements. This position is responsible for maintaining an effective cost accounting system to reduce costs and improve overall profitability. Other responsibilities include supervision of location accounting department and verification and approval of product and service expenditures for payment.

Essential Functions

  • Daily monitoring and investigation of work in process, manufacturing variances and finished goods output costs to maintain plant’s overall efficiency against pre-established standards set by upper management.
  • Monitoring and reconciliation of raw materials, finished goods, WIP and inventory accounts to ensure inventory general ledger balances are in accordance with GAAP.
  • Work with warehouse managers to establish and maintain systems to locate inventory easily.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory within assigned area by reviewing reports, making item transaction recommendations and quantity and cost adjustments.
  • Assist purchasing with receiving and cost issues of purchased product and conduct necessary system transactions.
  • Conduct cycle counts, reconcile inventory records and determine cause of errors.
  • Work with purchasing and production coordinator to maintain required inventory levels.
  • Preparation of cost analyses based on job costing batch system to support plant management to operate the plant in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Continuous improvement of internal systems, and material cost analyses
  • Analysis and interpretation of the job costing batch system output and effects on finished goods cost.
  • Oversight of cycle counts, along with annual physical inventory counting processes and corresponding controls
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Five plus years in accounting, preferably in cost accounting; Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must have a strong general ledger and cost system background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.

Required Competencies

  • Compliance with GAAP as well as state related income tax and sales tax compliance
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel- advanced)
  • Capability to prioritize and plan efficiently and effectively.
  • Flexibility within a diverse organization is a must, self-motivated, self-directed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks accurately and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build relationships and work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be able to work with diverse team across geographies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to direct workflow, manage others and be an effective decision maker.
  • Knowledge of finance, cash and accrual accounting, budgeting and cost control procedures
  • Ability to develop processes.
  • Ability to prepare internal monthly management and accounting reports.
  • Strong customer orientation

Supervisory Responsibility

The Accounting Manager is responsible for directly overseeing the accounting and inventory control functions including supervising the Administrative Supervisor and Inventory Control Manager.

Work Environment

The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office environment with prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasionally works in warehouse/plant in heat/cold conditions. Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazards. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Classification/Expected Hours of Employment

This position is a full-time position that is exempt.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting or related field, preferably with 5 years manufacturing experience OR 10 years of accounting management experience; Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
