JOB DESCRIPTION – SALES ENGINEER

The Sales Engineer is selected by the General Manager, Human Resources Specialist and Customer Relationship Manager. This position reports directly to the General Manager. An ideal candidate will have experience working in an industrial environment with an emphasis in one or more of the core areas (Industrial Painting (Powder or Liquid), Abrasive Blast Finishing or Mechanical Finishing) and good customer service skills.

AUTHORITY

The Sales Engineer has the authority to quote jobs for customers and potential customers.

RESPONSIBILITY

The Sales Engineer is responsible for meeting the sales goals established for the company AND is responsible for keeping the General Manager informed through weekly and monthly reports and meetings.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

The typical working conditions will include a normal office environment and various industrial sites, including the KVF-Quad job shop and automobile travel as required. Conditions include exposure to industrial equipment, chemicals, and loud noises.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires the ability to deal with stress and pressure. Requires the ability to multi-task. Requires the ability to commute between various businesses and meeting obligations. Requires manual/finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Ability to lift samples and products up to forty pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Knowledge of current market trends and sales methodology. Up-to-date knowledge of metal finishing, powder coat painting, abrasive and mechanical finishing machinery, products, and processes. Ability to analyze customer needs and develop proposals to be presented to customers. Ability to present ideas effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal constructively with conflict. Skills in human relations and communication. Ability to set goals and self-motivate to meet those goals. Ability to use time efficiently and effectively.

DUTIES

The duties of the Sales Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain up to date technical knowledge of the business and shop processes; know all machines, media, and compounds and their capabilities; run samples when requested.
  • Ensure all emails, RFQ’s, phone calls and other forms of customer communication (social media) are handled in a timely manner.
  • Be the first point of contact for customers.
  • Strong working knowledge in using internet, websites and portals for customer interaction.
  • Complete weekly reports and keep customer file and processes current.
  • Make a good appearance, including all tools, vehicle and sales samples.
  • Prepare for sales calls. Research potential customers and know how KVF-Quad can serve the customer.
  • Develop processes to meet customer expectations and specifications. Review customer provided prints and OEM specifications to determine proper process.
  • Provide inputs for marketing KVF Quad to customers.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with all employees and management of KVF-Quad Corporation.
  • Assist in settling any concerns between KVF-Quad Corporation and customers.
  • Assist General Manager and Customer Relationship Manager in forecasting sales plan and in establishing sales goals.
  • Other duties of which can be performed that may be assigned by the CEO / General Manager of KVF-Quad Corporation.

MEASUREMENT OF PERFORMANCE

The Sales Engineer will be deemed to be performing in a satisfactory manner when the following is accomplished:

  • All sales goals have been met with a margin that allows profit plan to be met.
  • All Customer complaints have been resolved or are in the process of being resolved.
  • All job assignments are completed in a timely manner within the Quality Control Standards set by the company.
