The Account Manager will support Crosslinkers sales volume, revenue and margin in the defined region. Evonik Crosslinkers sales in this territory are comprised mainly of Epoxy Curing Agents and Specialty Isocyante Monomers. This position will be the first line of commercial and technical support for customers in the territory. The Account Manager will be responsible for growing the business at direct accounts, identifying & winning new opportunities for existing and new products, executing the objectives of the business line, and creating mutual value for customers. The individual will also be responsible for managing and growing the business of distributors, which is a significant component of the overall performance of the territory. The principal markets to be served and developed in the territory include coatings, civil engineering, and adhesives. The position requires a critical blend of technical and commercial selling skills together with distributor management skills. In addition, knowledge of and work
experience in the civil engineering, coatings, or adhesives industry is desired. Sales success and customer satisfaction is achieved via a team matrix including, among others, resources from Sales, Marketing, Applied Technology, Customer Service, and Supply Chain. Whilst being an effective team player, the position is regularly required to coordinate the various functions at the customer interface in order to achieve business objectives. The candidate is preferred to work out of Evonik’s Allentown, PA offices or a home office geographically located within the Northeast U.S. A mobile phone, lap top computer, and access to the Evonik company car program are provided.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Meet or exceed volume, revenue and margin targets for the territory.
2. Manage all aspects of customer and market interface in the territory.
3. Defend and grow existing business and identify new opportunities in the territory.
4. Manage distributor in the territory.
5. Develop high quality customer relationships with key decision makers.
6. Manage customer pricing and distributor support pricing requests.
7. Develop and implement key account plans.
8. Negotiate and execute multi-year supply agreements that meet the commercial requirements of Evonik while also offering competitive advantage to our customers.
9. Work with Marketing, Applied Technology, and commercial support functions to execute plans and meet business objectives for the territory.
10. Communicate market intelligence and account updates for customers and markets through timely submission of contact reports, new business opportunities, e-mails, voice-mails, follow-up letters, a monthly territory report and other means of communication as necessary.
11. Build strong customer relationships, gain trust, respond to customer needs in a
timely fashion, and create an environment where customers feel at ease working with you, the Account Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
The individual should have experience in chemical sales, marketing, epoxy, PU coatings, or other related laboratory experiencE.
There should be a working knowledge of both the markets and the customers and their decision makers in this market.
Educational requirement: BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is required.
The individual must have strong commercial, negotiation, organizational, communication, technical and follow-up skills, a demonstrated ability to work and flourish as part of a joint marketing/sales/technology team, an interest in learning new technology, electronic proficiency (word, excel, power point, outlook – a knowledge of SAP and MS Dynamics 365 would be beneficial) and influence skills to sell internally as well as externally.
