Job Description

Central Steel & Wire, part of Ryerson family of companies, has an opportunity for a Sales Engineer to join our sales team based in Lisle, Illinois. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, quoting, and implementing supply chains for manufactured parts fabricated from metal. The sales engineer will service the supply chain created for the duration of the project.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Interpret and clarify customer provided materials such as blue prints, CAD files, and specifications. Knowledge level is limited but present.
  • Analyze tolerances, materials, and GD&T that will guide supply chain choices. Understands and is still learning to implement our supply chain strategy.
  • Collect and analyze data in order to estimate the time, money, materials, and labor required to manufacture metal products, primarily component parts.
  • Design part specific supply chains by utilizing internal production processes and tier 2 production processes to meet customer quality and delivery requirements with help from manager or peers.
  • Establish resale pricing for parts based on raw material and labor inputs.
  • Perform follow up calls to gain acceptance of the offer and arrive at a mutual agreement of an order.
  • Daily interaction via phone and email regarding customer needs.
  • Ability to present solutions to prospective customers.
  • Understands quality needs such as PPAP and first article with assistance from manager and peers.
  • Collaborate with local internal departments within the Ryerson enterprise to service customer needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or prior sales or relevant industry experience
  • Hands on or related industry experience in manufacturing.
  • Excellent professional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Strong math aptitude.
  • Proficiency within Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) required; experience within CRM tools (i.e. Salesforce.com) and SAP or AS400 operating platforms beneficial.
  • Understands the goals and concepts of the business to achieve sales and profitability.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Positive attitude, competitive, goal-oriented and passion to excel.
  • Flexible and solutions-oriented.
  • Problem solving/conflict resolution skills.
  • Self motivated and detail oriented.
  • High degree of business ethics.
  • Ability to work well and excel while working with a team or individually.
  • Personable with excellent phone skills.
