We are a small local business dedicated to providing luxury level services to all of our clients and their critters. We treat all pets as we would our own and make sure to give friendly & thorough updates after scheduled visits. We are growing and as such your schedule could fill up leading to a full time position if that is something you may be interested in. This can be an incredible part-time opportunity for an individual with a passion for animals. It is a job designed to act as supplemental income but can lead to full time opportunities with continued client growth. This can also be a fantastic position for an individual looking to build a career working professionally with animals.

POSITION SUMMARY

Pet Care Professionals (PCP’s) are responsible for the husbandry and care of clients' pets, plants, and home. PCP’s ensure clients' pets are provided food, exercise, and companionship, as well as ensuring their safety and well-being. The Pet Care Professional also performs minor housekeeping duties, such as bringing in the mail and taking out the trash, doing dishes, while the owners are away. This position is also responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of customer and pet information, key communications and general upkeep of platforms such as Time to Pet and Slack. Maintaining positive client relations is also an essential function to this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Portraying a positive company image and engaging in professional and friendly communications with customers and staff
  • Provide companionship, exercise, and playtime for pets
  • Feed, water, and administer medication as needed
  • Ensure the pet’s safety and well-being at all times
  • Monitor the pet’s health and alert the owner of any changes
  • Perform basic housekeeping duties as needed
  • Clean up after the pet, including disposing of waste
  • Transportation of pets as needed
  • Occasionally picking up supplies for clients as needed with reimbursement
  • Provide updates to the owner on the pet’s progress while they are away including photos
  • Effective time management of scheduled services
  • Communications with the team through slack, email, and by phone to ensure the smooth operation of services and business functions.
  • Performing other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Basic understanding of the pet care and the pet care industry
  • Reside in the Portland metropolitan area and be able to work in the office as needed.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and at least 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prior experience with the public (customer service) required.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Strong understanding and application of client relations
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and quickly process information.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and take direction from management.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, work instructions, software manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Proven experience providing pet care
  • Knowledge of pet health, husbandry, and behavior
  • Able to work independently and follow instructions
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and Holidays.
  • Willingness to travel for pet sitting assignments
  • Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and reliable transportation

  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can become loud.

Pay:

  • Base pay is $25 per hour + Tips
  • All staff regardless of position in the company make the same amount, this is our effort to offer wage transparency in the industry.
