A sales manager uses their soft skills and powers of persuasion to help communicate ideas to customers and prospective clients. Sales managers use cold calls and emails, industry events, webinars, expert panels, and other outreach methods to create and nurture sales leads.
They are responsible for ensuring that sales quotas are consistently met. In order to achieve this directive, they are commonly expected to hold sales meetings, discuss product or service updates, and provide regular reports to senior executives or directors within the company.
These reports will be based upon information provided by salespeople and junior sales managers. Common metrics which sales managers will cover include
- Conversion rate
- Leads won
- Leads lost
- Lead value
- Lead qualification score
- Buyer persona efficiency (as well as offering information to update them)
