Your Role

Mission:

As Director of Sales, or Sales Director, you will manage and oversee the sales operations in an organization. Main duties include designing plans to meet sales targets, developing and cultivating relationships with clients and evaluating costs to determine their products' pricing when selling to customers. The Director of Sales will act as the single point of contact for all Key Accounts (APT) focusing on building and maintaining strong customer relationships. The Director will shape the strategic direction of the company by targeting acquisitions and/or adding additional company store locations. This position will include multiple direct reports active in the tool’s promoter role.



Roles and Responsibilities:

Key Objectives:
  • Presence – Expand local presences through additional direct locations in target markets and actively identify and engage acquisition targets.
  • Key Account Management - Support and participate in the development of new and existing national key accounts offering all available products (APT)
  • Sales training and mentoring - Measure the Performance and actively drive the sales force in the development of their assigned territories
  • Pricing and Inventory- Actively Participate in the annual planning process to set pricing and inventory levels necessary to achieve the company’s sales targets
  • Lead Generation: Lead, monitor and promote all lead generation activities to ensure effective use of the companies’ resources.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Drive business by being an active and visible presence within the channels and with end users.
  • People development, with focus on coaching and mentoring (Direct Sales Reports)
  • Developing a culture of proactive sales management including tools such as C4C (CRM).
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term sales, marketing, and business development strategies.
  • Reviews market trends to determine customer needs, volume potential, price point, emerging technologies to develop sales strategy to accomplish growth goals of company.
  • Represents the company at trade association functions to promote APT Brand.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key accounts and act as the Primary point of contact for all APT Brand business.
  • This position will require extensive overnight travel, 40%, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Create sales promotions, with the assistance of marketing and communications.
  • Champion lead generation while capturing all team activities in the companies CRM
  • Act as the voice of the customer providing feedback to all departments.
  • Represent the core values and attitudes of American Pneumatic Tool at all times.

Perform other duties as assigned.


To succeed, you will need

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of related work experience in Sales Management and/or Key Account Management.

Experience with Construction equipment, is preferred

Education:

This position requires a 4-year bachelor’s degree in business or engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Master’s degree (M.B.A) Preferred

Certifications/Licenses:
Must maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.


Skills:

Computer Skills:
  • Must have working knowledge of computer and smart phone applications including Microsoft Office Suite; experience and proficiency with CRM platforms is desirable.
Language & Reasoning Ability:
  • Must be able to read English, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write detailed reports and business correspondence is required.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Travel:

Must be able to travel extensively (usually by airplane or automobile) throughout the assigned area, US and globally as needed to coordinate activities. Approximately 40% travel is expected.


Supervisory Resposibilities:

This position supervises 2-6 people covering the United States and Canada.
