Job Description

The Direct Sales Manager will be responsible for actively engaging assigned accounts both through outbound communication efforts and field inbound product requests. The position will support the organization by optimizing revenue opportunities by uncovering assigned customer needs and partner with the Product Manager to ensure pricing matches the target objectives of the organization. In addition, the role will also proactively research and engage prospect accounts that match the profile of existing AGY customers with the intent of securing new revenue from new customers.

Main Tasks / Responsibilities


Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Proactively engage assigned existing customers and potential customers to uncover any upcoming product needs
  • Create and deliver price quotes to customers with the intent to secure new purchase orders for the products
  • Field inbound delivery requests from assigned customers and work with the Product Manager and Customer Service teams on providing the best solution to meet the customers’ needs
  • Research target markets to uncover potential new customers who have not purchased from AGY in the past
  • Engage past customers who have not purchased from AGY in the past two years
  • Assists in creating presentations, coordinates sales materials and assists leadership team as needed
  • Support all special events – both customer related and industry related shows and displays. These events can be local, internal and external functions
  • Manage special assigned sales projects

Position Type, Expected Work Hours and Travel


  • Full time 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Travel up to 15% may be required.

Education, Training and Experience


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college or university.
  • 1-3 years related field experience or training.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Skills:

  • Comfortable using both telephone and video conferencing tools to communicate
  • Knowledge of sales related products and solutions are a plus
  • Proficiency Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint tools
  • Aptitude for technical and mechanical applications
  • Detail Oriented
  • Able to work independently and under pressure
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Advanced communication skills – verbal, written, presentation
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
