Role Purpose

As the quality control lead within our Lower 48 (L48) data team you will play an instrumental role in the commercial success of our L48 research offerings. You will lead a team responsible for ensuring that our L48 dataset is as accurate, complete and as up to date as possible. You will work alongside data colleagues promoting best Data practice and collaborated extensively with Research colleagues to deliver a high quality L48 dataset that meets our clients needs and requirements.

We would like to invite a candidate who has both domain knowledge in oil and gas operations and an appreciation for modern data techniques and approaches.

Main Responsibilities

  • Foster collaboration among cross-functional teams to define, prioritize, and execute data requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and client needs.
  • Oversee the quality assurance process, guaranteeing the integrity and accuracy of weekly data deliverables.
  • Design and implement daily protocols for the proactive identification and resolution of data quality issues, ensuring our data remains of the highest standard.
  • Cultivate an environment of learning and growth, providing mentorship and comprehensive training to junior team members to elevate their expertise in the data domain.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the overarching workflow within our data processing platform, enabling you to efficiently diagnose data quality concerns and recommend modifications to our data engineering practices

About You

  • An appreciation for oil and gas operations, encompassing equipment, drilling, completion, and production.
  • Fundamental understanding of the software development lifecycle, from architecture review to maintenance.
  • Proficiency in managing big data quality, including metric definition, large-scale monitoring, and dashboarding.
  • Capability for developing algorithms to analyse oil and gas asset attributes.
  • Ability to collaborate with Research, Consultant, and Product teams to steer new feature development and enhancements.
  • Competence in using Python/Pyspark for essential data quality checks and validation.
  • Basic knowledge of large-scale data warehousing and analytics technologies, with experience in AWS services like Glue, Athena, Redshift, S3, EC2, and others.
  • Leadership experience in guiding teams or workgroups, with a focus on achieving cross-functional objectives.
  • Proven track record of developing talent within the organization, fostering high-performance teams.
  • Ability to enhance the Data organization's public presence and build effective cross-departmental and external partnerships.
  • AWS Solutions Architect certification is a plus.
  • A gruaduate degree in science, engineering or math is preferred but not a must
