Position Overview:

1. Accountability: Sales Order Growth

2. Stature: Will be part of developing the business at leadership table

3. Direct Reports: 5 (total team is 11)

4. Type: Permanent + Full time + Hybrid (up to 2 days working from home)

5. Travel: 25%

6. Vacation: 3 weeks

7. Sick Days: 5 Days

8. Personal Days: 5 Days

9. Benefits: Extended Heath and Dental

10. RRSP: 3% matching up to $5000; After 3 years moves to 5%

11. Salary: $90,000-$100,000

12. OTE: $150,000

Primary responsibilities: The Director of Sales will be critical in driving team performance and sales growth. This individual will have a strong understanding of distribution channels and channel management. In addition to managing and coaching a sales team, the Director will lead by example, serving as the best salesperson on the floor, developing new OEM business, and building strong relationships with high-level members of our key customers.

Specific duties:

· Sales Leadership & Strategy:

o Develop and execute sales strategies to increase revenue across all industries presently served: annual sales plan expense budget

o Lead by example as the top salesperson on the team, actively engaging with customers and generating new business.

· Channel Management & Distribution Strategy:

o Oversee the management of Samlex's distribution network, ensuring partners are well-supported and aligned with company objectives.

o Enforce pricing strategy to control channel conflicts and maintain margins

· Performance Management:

o Set clear expectations for the sales team, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance reviews to ensure high levels of achievement.

o Monitor and track sales performance, offering actionable feedback and adjusting strategies to ensure targets are met or exceeded.

o Drive accountability within the team through KPIs, regular performance meetings, and real-time coaching, fostering a high-performance sales culture.

· OEM Sales & Key Account Management:

o Proactively identify new OEM opportunities

o Develop strong relationships with high level members of our key customers to deepen our partnership and grow sales

· Pipeline & Forecast Management:

o Develop and manage a pipeline management system using in-house ERP

· Team Development & Training:

o Identify continuous training and development opportunities to improve skills and enhance overall team performance.

o Foster a collaborative and competitive team environment, driving motivation and accountability across the department.

o Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with sales reps to discuss performance, opportunities for growth, and sales strategy.

· Market & Industry Insights:

o Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions to identify new opportunities and adjust strategies.

o Represent Samlex America at trade shows, conferences, and industry events to build brand awareness, generate new leads, and network with potential partners.

Education/ Skills required:

· Working knowledge of Excel specifically Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP.

· Experience, knowledge, and proficient with other MS Office Products and ERP, preferably NetSuite Analytics platform

· Proven sales leadership experience, with a strong emphasis on managing distribution channels and selling to OEM customers.

· Hands-on experience as a top-performing sales individual, ideally with a background in B2B sales in the power solutions, electronics, industrial, or similar technology-driven industries.

· Strong track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets, developing key accounts, and managing high-performing teams.

· Demonstrated expertise in sales forecasting, pipeline management, and performance reporting.

Competencies required:

· Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to coach, mentor, and inspire a sales team.

· Expert knowledge of distribution channel management, including recruitment, training, and performance optimization of channel partners.

· Strong negotiation and closing skills

· Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

· Analytical mindset with the ability to assess data, forecast sales, and adjust strategies accordingly.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $90,000.00-$100,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • OEM Sales: 2 years (preferred)
  • Managing Sales Performance of direct reports: 2 years (preferred)
  • B2B (Distribution and wholesale Channels): 2 years (preferred)

Willingness to travel:

  • 25% (preferred)

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Burnaby, BC
