High Voltage Field Service Technologist

Location: 200 Evans Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Summary:
We are seeking a High Voltage Field Service Technologist to lead and assist in all aspects of Power System services. We are looking for a determined individual to grow and deliver WOW experiences to our trusted clients. This individual will be an integral part of the team and self-preform highly advanced technical work. This position requires a deep passion for consistently achieving results at a high level, positively impacting coworkers and clients and preforming excellent work consistently and continuously. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Power System design, operation, commissioning and maintenance. Strong communication and technical writing skills is a must for this role.

What you have already achieved: (Requirements)

  • Advanced College Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, alternatively a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or higher.
  • Minimum of 7 years, of hands on experience with a demonstrated record in the industry.
  • Canadian or USA utility experience and familiarity with utility work protection.
  • Solid understanding of site regulations regarding Health, safety & environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical calculation and computer applications.
  • Sound acquaintances with Canadian electrical codes, CSA, NEMA, NETA and IEEE standards.
  • Sound knowledge in electrical site acceptance test for digital relays, HV & MV switchgear, motors, cables and MCC.
  • Sound knowledge in design and installation of High voltage and medium voltage power system including cables, motors & it’s control, protective relays, transformers, circuit breakers, LV variable frequency drives and MV/LV motor control centers and hazardous area classification.
  • Some knowledge of insulation science such as Partial Discharge and/or power factor considered an asset.
  • Client relationship or account management experience.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and the sales team.
  • Proven ability to create and implement innovative solutions.
  • Assist with leading growth initiatives.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
  • A valid class G driver's license and experience with towing trailers. Higher class license and experience an asset.
  • Clean background check to meet plant access requirements.
  • Ability to travel to USA and international destinations and/or obtain needed work permits, 50% or higher travel ratio may be required for this role.
  • Recent certifications in majority of health & safety training requirements, such as LOTO, confined space, working at heights a bonus.

  • Sharp mind, spatial awareness, and good hand eye coordination.
  • The ability to lift 50-pound weights on regular basis.
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain on regular basis.
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations on constant basis.
  • The ability to comprehend and follow electrical safety and approach distances.
  • The ability to safely climb ladders.
  • The ability to work outdoors with varying temperatures which may be occasionally considered extreme.
  • The ability to work safely in an aerial lifting device occasionally.
  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day constantly.

  • Provide skilled technical assistance, quality service and advice on technical projects to clients while maintaining an absolute commitment to safety and quality.
  • Represent the company in an excellent fashion with a commitment to 100% client satisfaction.
  • Assist in expanding the client portfolio and company reach.
  • Serve as the company’s ambassador at conference and trade shows.
  • Provide clients with recommendations for possible repairs or upgrades required through assessing technical issues on site.
  • Assist other technical staff with technical problems, project management issues and meeting safety requirements.
  • Assist in all aspects of the project from technical proposal to execution and close out.
  • Be responsible for managing multiple small jobs through coordinating the effective use of technical staff, equipment and other resources, ensuring jobs are completed to client standards, and enforcing Dexotech policies and procedures.
  • Provide mentorship, support and learning opportunities to junior technical staff, as well as hands-on site training on technical procedures.
  • Contribute expertise to projects involving power cables, switchgear, transformers, protection relaying, power system design and/or turnkey substations.
  • Travel to job locations, globally to perform or lead work.

Job Types: Full-time, Apprenticeship

Pay: $80,000.00-$130,000.00 per year

Additional pay:

  • Bonus pay

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Etobicoke, ON
