Lotek Wireless is an award-winning world leader in the development, manufacture and marketing of wildlife monitoring systems. We have an existing vacancy as an Avian Telemetry Specialist and are are seeking someone with technical ability for the role . Our Avian Segment is a team within our Marketing and Sales Department which leads the distribution of our highly specialized products. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys discussing technical equipment needs with those conducting important research on animal behaviour and the environment, in a way that makes a positive contribution to the quality of life. It’s an exciting time for research using the latest tracking developments in a growing market.
Duties:
As a member of our Global Avian Segment, you will be responsible for international sales of GPS satellite, radio and archival tracking technologies. These provide the animal’s perspective on many topics including changes in the environment.
This career opportunity places you in the middle of decisions that set the balance between human activities and wildlife conservation. Your primary contacts are researchers at Universities, Government Agencies, NGO’s, and Wildlife Consultants, to identify and advise on their research objectives and potential telemetry requirements.
The role also allows you the opportunity to feedback information from the researchers you meet, to inform our development programs.
International travel is estimated at 6-10 weeks per year attending conferences and visiting contacts and prospects.
Skills and Qualifications:
As a minimum, the successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree. Biological/Environmental Science, Electrical Engineering or Business preferred. Graduate Degree, MBA, would be an asset. A minimum of 3+ years in related field is preferred.

An appreciation of wildlife research and a good grasp of wildlife telemetry would be a huge advantage. Familiarity with Government procurement procedures is an asset.
