Position: Sales Director, Electrochem
Primary Location: Home Based with Travel, to be located either within Canada or the US
Reports to: Sr. Director, Electrochem
Compensation:
$180,000 - $190,000 CAD + Benefits + Bonus
$200,000 - $215,000 USD + Benefits + Bonus
Salaried rates are determined by role, level, and location. The salaried rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific rate factors for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process, as some facilities are subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements. Please note that the compensation details listed in the US roles postings reflect the hourly rate only, and do not include benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives such as overtime and shift premiums.

About this Role and About You
The role entails direct responsibility for formulating and executing the sales strategy and objectives to align with the Electrochem business goals. This includes overseeing the activities of the sales team to ensure goal achievement. Key responsibilities also involve comprehending and regulating selling prices to optimize profitability while balancing sales and supply dynamics effectively. Furthermore, the incumbent is tasked with understanding, analyzing, and disseminating market trends, movements, and critical data points across the organization. Collaboration with supply chain, manufacturing, and logistics departments is essential to identify and fulfill customer requirements efficiently. Negotiating contracts and agreements for both contract and non-contract customers falls within the purview of this role. Cultivating and sustaining high-level relationships with core and key customers is imperative for business growth. Moreover, driving initiatives for growth and identifying value-added opportunities to enhance unit-holder value is crucial. The role also encompasses defining and implementing organizational changes to adapt to evolving business needs and market conditions. Flexibility to respond to internal and external changes swiftly while effectively communicating strategic direction is essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

  • 10 years sales, marketing or management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business (or related field)
  • MBA (preferred)
  • 2 – 3 years experience in logistics, customer service, manufacturing or other related field.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize appropriately.
  • Solid understanding of other functional groups including manufacturing, logistics, customer service, supply chain, etc.
Key Responsiblities

Leadership of sales direct reports (30%)
  • Develop annual goals and objectives with team members, with periodic updates.
  • Facilitate attainment of objectives by sales team
  • Measure performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Coach and Mentor direct reports; facilitate skills development & interest with applicable training


Manage Customer relationships, negotiate contracts, develop new accounts and opportunities (20%)
  • Communicate and champion customer requirements and contractual arrangements effectively within CHEMTRADE.
  • Ensure appropriate and consistent liaison with Customers
  • Manage CHEMTRADE exposure to product liability risks
  • Have a full understanding of the capabilities and limitations of internal and 3rd party supply sources and as well optimal logistics patterns
  • Measure and communicate value creation to customers
  • Drive customer relationships past Purchasing, coach and mentor team to seek out all “buyers’ inside our customers (technical buyers, quality buyers, etc)


Set, implement and achieve/exceed Sales pricing/netback objectives (20%)
  • Execute product marketing and sales strategies and then drive implementation.
  • Implement price adjustments in a timely manner and with appropriate credibility, Customer acceptance and appropriate notice.
  • Provide meaningful input into logistics regarding carrier relationships and freight costs, ensure at least cost-recovery from marketplace.
  • Work with business leadership to optimize margins and drive opportunities to trade up value in customers
  • Solicit new business based on superior product, competitiveness & program/service offerings (vs. just pricing).
  • Uncover new product and/or application opportunities to meet new customer demands and challenges.


Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies in support of defined product/business strategies (20%)
  • Execute overall sales and marketing strategies for each product area in alignment with overall business and company strategies
  • Develop & implement written strategies for top customers
  • Development and implementation of annual Business Plan & periodic updates (Latest Estimates), continually monitor performance and understand/act on variances as required.
  • Understand detailed marketplace pricing, products and competitive threats
Coordinate and optimize WM technical & operational resources to ensure customer needs are met (10%)
  • Translate customer requirements into internal processes, and prioritize (cost benefit analysis) effectively to meet needs
  • Understand, utilize and optimize the complicated supply network consisting of a combination of Chemtrade operated production facilities and 3rd party supply arrangements ensuring that customer needs are met and business financial margins are maximized.
  • Work with division technical resources and site managers in providing ongoing technical support and representation to regional Customers
  • Ensure prompt response to Customer inquiries, needs and/or difficulties
  • Lead new product/new business development innovation by coordinating customer challenges with the available resources
