Account Manager / Outside Sales

Territory includes Southern Alberta, Southern BC.

Summary: Madsen Controls, a Canadian distributor and integrator of top-tier industrial control systems and power management equipment, has an opening for an Account Manager out of its Edmonton Alberta office. Madsen has a significant installation base of its products in hydro, mining, pulp and paper, oil & gas, marine and power generation markets throughout Western Canada. Our offerings provide industrial prime mover speed & load control, prime mover protection systems, power generation controls, electrical system protection relays as well as engineering services, The Account Manager will have significant experience and contacts in one or more of these markets and will develop new accounts, maintain existing accounts and target integration opportunities and service within their territory.

As the successful candidate, you must be an excellent problem solver, able to manage your time and efforts, be comfortable working both independently and with cross-departmental teams and have good communication skills. You should have broad knowledge of one or more of rotating and/or reciprocating applications and/or power generation / power management, ideally with direct experience of prime mover technologies, combining an understanding of the customer’s business and their needs. You must be willing to travel throughout Southern Alberta & British Columbia on a regular basis. Although you will be backed by a team of experts, you must be open to learning and being able to navigate in-depth technical discussions with clients. You will be expected to play a leading role in problem resolution from both a technical and commercial viewpoint.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Independently organize outside sales efforts from office and remote locations
  • Develop value creation opportunities for both Madsen Controls and the customer.
  • Sales plan development.
  • Call on existing customers and cold calling of potential customers
  • Work well with other members of the team and share information openly.
  • Keep management informed through regular activity reports and communications.
  • Diligently maintain an accurate CRM database.
  • Develop and deliver customer-oriented strategies.
  • Continuously provide market intelligence.
  • Interpret and understand customers existing control systems based on control narratives and or schematic drawings
  • Specify proper product based on site needs and conditions

Education, Experience and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, trade certification, diploma and or equivalent sales experience.
  • Fluent in English, secondary language an asset but not required
  • Industry sales account management experience.
  • Five + years related industry experience required.
  • Computer Skills including: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CRM, Email.

The desired candidate will have professional experience to include:

  • Current customers throughout Southern Alberta & BC
  • Controls or Systems Engineer experience would be a significant benefit.
  • Experience in either selling, installing or operating industrial control systems
  • Business, Engineering or Technical certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Woodward, Basler or competing products would be an asset.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting schematic drawings and control narratives
  • Experience in technical selection and product advisement

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00-$150,000.00 per year (commission un-capped)

Supplemental pay types:

Experience:

  • outside industrial sales: 5 years (preferred)
  • power management or controls: 5 years (preferred)
  • experience in industrial customer sales

Pre-Screening:

Potential candidates must have a clean driving record and agree to a background check as part of the application process.

Pay: $70,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
